SME Cash Grant 2026: What Singapore Businesses Need to Know

If you run a Singapore small business, staying updated on the latest Singapore SME grants in 2026 can help you manage your operating costs. On 29 July 2026, the Government announced a new S$900 million support package. As part of these Singapore government support measures for businesses in 2026, the SME Cash Grant 2026 gives direct cash payouts to support small businesses.

Because this grant is automatic, you do not need to apply. However, you must meet strict tax and CPF deadlines. For many businesses, the most important deadline is 31 August 2026—which is only a few days away.

What is the IRAS SME Cash Grant 2026?

The IRAS SME Cash Grant 2026 is a one-off government cash grant for SMEs managed by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).

Unlike other government schemes (such as the Productivity Solutions Grant), this is not a claim-based grant. If you are wondering how to apply for the SME Cash Grant 2026 or do I need to apply for the SME Cash Grant, the process is entirely automated. You do not need to buy any equipment, submit receipts, or apply for it. IRAS will check your records automatically using data from ACRA, the CPF Board, and IRAS.

How much money can your business get?

The amount of cash you receive depends on your business structure and whether you hire local staff (Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents).

Business Structure Do you have local employees? Cash Grant Amount
Companies, Partnerships, or LLPs Yes (between April and June 2026) S$500 per local employee, up to a maximum of S$2,500 per business.
Sole Proprietorships & Partnerships No local employees, but have at least one local owner (Singapore Citizen/PR) Flat S$500 payout (if the local owner’s Net Trade Income (NTI) for YA 2025 is S$100,000 or less, declared and assessed by 31 Aug 2026).

This S$500 cash grant Singapore scheme is designed to help businesses manage immediate overheads, capped at a maximum of S$2,500 per eligible company.

SME Cash Grant Eligibility: Who qualifies for the SME Cash Grant 2026?

To understand your SME Cash Grant eligibility, your business must meet these simple rules:

  • Active Business: Your company must be active and registered with ACRA when the payout is made in November 2026.
  • Business Type: It must be an ACRA-registered company, sole proprietorship, partnership, or LLP. Note: Individuals employing workers under their personal NRIC (such as hiring domestic helpers) are not eligible.
  • Business Size: Your business must meet at least one of these size rules:
    • Have an annual revenue of S$100 million or less for the Year of Assessment (YA) 2025, filed and assessed by IRAS by 31 August 2026.
    • Have 200 employees or fewer as of 30 June 2026. (Note: This employee count refers to total employees, both local and foreign, for the SME test.)

How is the local employee count calculated?

For businesses with staff, the cash is calculated based on your local workforce size:

  • The Qualifying Period: April 2026 to June 2026.
  • The Formula: IRAS will look at your CPF records and find the month with the highest number of local employees between April and June 2026.
  • Who counts as a local employee? Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents who received CPF contributions on time. This includes company directors who get a salary and CPF.
  • Who is excluded? You cannot count sole proprietors or partners as employees to get more cash.
Example: If your company paid CPF for 2 local employees in April, 4 in May, and 3 in June, your payout is based on 4 employees (your highest month). Your payout will be 4 × S$500 = S$2,000.

Can sole proprietors and partnerships receive the SME Cash Grant 2026?

If you are looking at the SME Cash Grant sole proprietorship rules, businesses without hired local employees can still receive a flat S$500 payout if they meet these criteria:

  • At Least One Local Owner: The business must have at least one local owner (Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident).
  • Net Trade Income (NTI) Cap: The local business owner must have a Net Trade Income (NTI) of S$100,000 or less for YA 2025. NTI is the individual trade income declared on your personal tax form.
  • Tax Deadline: You must file your YA 2025 tax return and have it assessed by IRAS by 31 August 2026.
  • Partnership Rule: For partnerships, the payout depends on the partner who has the lowest declared and assessed NTI.
  • One Payout Only: If you own more than one sole proprietorship with no employees, you will only get one flat S$500 payout in total.

SME Cash Grant payout date: When will the SME Cash Grant 2026 be paid out?

The official SME Cash Grant payout date is scheduled for November 2026.

You do not need to do anything to apply. IRAS will send the money directly to your registered business bank account using:

  • PayNow Corporate: This must be linked to your company’s UEN (with no suffix).
  • GIRO: This will be used if you have an active GIRO account set up with IRAS for your business.
Note: If your business does not have a local bank account, you can write to IRAS through myTax Mail (Category: “Government Payout”, Subject: “Payment Matters”) to appeal for case-by-case payout arrangements.

4 common mistakes that could delay your cash

Since the grant is fully automated, any mistakes in your business records can delay or stop your payout. Watch out for these four errors:

Mistake 01: Late YA 2025 tax filing

Your YA 2025 tax must be filed and assessed by IRAS by 31 August 2026. Since today is late August, you must complete your tax filing immediately. If your tax is not assessed by this date, IRAS cannot verify your revenue or Net Trade Income (NTI).

Mistake 02: Late or unpaid CPF contributions

IRAS counts your employees based on CPF records. If you paid your CPF contributions late for April, May, or June 2026, those employees might not be counted.

Mistake 03: No PayNow Corporate (or incorrect UEN setup)

Ensure your corporate bank account is linked to your company's UEN (with no suffix). If IRAS cannot send the money to your bank, you will not receive the grant.

Mistake 04: Operating without an ACRA registration

You must be an ACRA-registered entity (company, sole proprietorship, partnership, LLP). Individuals employing workers under their personal NRIC are not eligible for the grant.

Quick checklist: Is your business ready?

Before IRAS opens its online eligibility checker in mid-October 2026, run through this simple check:

  • Is your ACRA business registration active?
  • Have you filed your YA 2025 taxes, and is the assessment completed? (Deadline: 31 August 2026)
  • Did you pay CPF contributions on time for your local employees from April to June 2026?
  • Is your corporate bank account set up with GIRO or PayNow Corporate linked to your UEN (no suffix)?
